Pattern Release: Kitty Catiolis

Did you know that my daughter is also a crochet designer? She doesn't publish patterns often, but I am always thrilled when she does- and in case you hadn't guessed already, today's pattern was designed by my amazingly talented daughter! The Kitty Catiolis are a fun, quick way to use up scrap yarn. You only need a few yards to make one Catioli and can whip one up in just a few minutes! They look like toy raviolis when complete, hence the name "Kitty Catiolis".

Pattern Release: the Puppy Placemat

For my Pet Appreciation Month design, I originally planned to create a cute placemat in the shape of a dog bone.... that was a fail and a half! More than likely, I could have conquered this design if I had more time, but in true Malena fashion I failed to read the calendar properly and my deadline to submit the design to the Pet Appreciation Blog Hop was rapidly approaching by the time I sat down to start my design. Combine a tight deadline with a curious puppy who was pretty sure that I was making something neat for her and would NOT stop trying to remove the crochet hook from my hand with her sharp sharp teeth, and I resorted to designing something more simple that can easily be completed in just one day!

Pattern Release: the Dolphins and Diamonds Shawl

The Dolphins and Diamonds Shawl uses the filet crochet technique as well as my signature Dolphin Stitch and works up quickly. This is a great pattern to work on when you have a few distractions but don't want to be bored from the monotony of the same stitch over and over again. My testers enjoyed working on their shawls and loved the results, which means you are going to love working on and wearing this design too!

Moguls Scarf Free Crochet Pattern

The texture of the stitches creates little bumps inside the triangles which reminded me of moguls on ski slopes! Once you get the stitch combination committed to your memory, this scarf works up super fast as well. I designed the Moguls Scarf using Lion Brand Ferris Wheel yarn in the Imaginary Garden colorway. I love crocheting with the Ferris Wheel line of yarns because the yarn is made specifically for crocheting and the colorways are all SO gorgeous!

Friendship Prayer Shawl- FREE Crochet Pattern

I designed the Friendship Prayer Shawl in 2020, and it has been a bestseller for the past 3 years. In the true spirit of friendship, I am now sharing it with you for free here on the Straight Hooked blog! I used Lion Brand Mandala Ombre in the Tranquil colorway. I absolutely loved working with this yarn. It is so soft and easy to work with, and the color changes are just perfection!
