Happy Friday, y’all! Can you believe that its another Free Pattern Friday?! This week, I am sharing the Ferris Wheel Cowl which I designed last September, but never got around to publishing until one of you lovelies found a photo on Instagram and sent me a message asking for the pattern. I quickly wrote it out and sent it to my testers, who did a great job and finished the project in just a few days.

I designed this cowl using Lion Brand Ferris Wheel (which is how I came up with my super creative name for the pattern.) If you have not yet tried the Ferris Wheel yarn, I highly recommend that you consider it. It is spun in a “z” twist, which is perfect for crocheting as the yarn spins tighter as you crochet, rather than loosening and splitting like most yarns (which are in an “s” twist) do. Also, the colorways are fantastic, and they transition so beautifully. As far as the Ferris Wheel Cowl is concerned, I wanted to design a cute cowl that will not only keep your neck warm when that chilly fall or winter wind picks up, but will also look stylish and garner you a ton of compliments! This cowl is made in the round, with easy row repeats. You can easily adjust the length and width to make it exactly the size you want. I used less than one cake of Ferris Wheel, but you can use any worsted weight yarn you like. I used a 5mm hook because I like the appearance of clean, tight stitches on this project.

Materials:
200 yards Worsted weight yarn (I used Ferris Wheel in Imaginary Garden)
5mm hook
Finishing needle
Stitch markers
Notes:
*This pattern was written in US terms.
*This pattern is worked in the round.
*If you want to adjust the size, you can increase or decrease your foundation row in multiples of 2.

Abbreviations:
ch- chain
fdc- foundation double crochet
slst- slip stitch
dc- double crochet
hdc- half double crochet
sk- skip
st- stitch
Gauge: 8dc x 5 rows of pattern = 2” square (gauge is not super important for this project)
Finished size if following gauge: 31” around x 5.5” tall
Instructions:
R1. ch3, fdc 119, slst to top of ch 3 (120)
R2. ch1, (does not count as st), sk 1st st, hdc in next st, hdc in skipped st, *sk next st, hdc in next st, hdc in skipped st*, repeat from * to * 59 times, slst to first st. (120)
R3. ch3, hdc in next 119 sts, slst to top of ch3 (120)
R4-14. Repeat rows 2-3
R15. Ch3, dc 119, slst to top of ch3, finish off and weave in ends.
