Happy Friday to you! Today is an especially happy Friday for me, because it is Pattern Release Day! The Mermaid Waves Shawl pattern is now available for download, and I am just thrilled with it. I designed the shawl with Yarn Bee Caterina in the Summer Siesta colorway, and once I had just a few rows completed, I shared a photo on my social media. One of my favorite people called “dibs” before I had even shared what it was I was creating! It has already arrived at her home, and she loves it!

I wanted to create a lightweight summer shawl which would be perfect for keeping your arms warm on a chilly evening or in an overly air conditioned building. (Seriously, why do they keep buildings at 45 degrees in the summer? It feels so strange to need a coat to go INSIDE!) You can choose any sport weight yarn you like, grab your favorite 5mm hook, and get going on creating yourself the perfect summer shawl!
The pattern itself is comprised of two repeating sections, which makes it perfect for working up while you watch a show. Because of the difference in the pattern sections, you won’t become bored, and the short rows make it grow quickly. I made a second one, also in Yarn Bee Caterina, in the colorway Fairview Cottage, and this one is still available for purchase if you don’t want to make one yourself.
